"The Briefcase"
It is not so often that something finds its way into the very minute crevices of my psyche, takes root, holds onto every fiber inside me and doesn't let go. When this occurs, as it had on Wednesday evening, at 8pm, I must completely and thoroughly disect it until I understand not only "it" but the depth of myself. Read the online reviews and naysayers will tell you it preys on the underprivileged and poor. That it is condescending and exploitative to those in need. Watch it and decide for yourself. For those with any remnants of a conscience left, in this world of negative bombardment from 24 hour news that notifies us of the horrific and malicious nature of man, you can't help but take inventory of yourself. I believe that there are people that walk among us with good intentions in their heart. That still offer a helping hand to those in need. That still dig in their own purse for the person in line in front of them that is 10 cents short for a cup of coffee. Social media is saturated with either inspirational quotes or pictures of abused, neglected, left for near dead pets (all at the hands of caretakers that received nothing but complete love and devotion). What would happen if we actually started LIVING and putting into practice the quotes we find so uplifting? It is so easy to click and "like" them and move onto the next mindless posting of shoes that someone needs help in the decision to buy them in red or blue. What if you knew that the child next door had no shoes?
